Bands & Callers
Calling by Michael Karcher

Michael Karcher got hooked on contra dance and ECD at Swarthmore College and fed his habit at CDNY in New York City. He started calling after moving to Seattle and honed a clear, friendly style over the next decade before returning to the East Coast. Michael now calls events across the US and Canada, and dreams of bringing contra dance to Japan and taking contra dance away from France (just kidding). He dances at the Lehigh Valley contra and is a coordinating caller for the Philadelphia contra. We are thrilled to have Michael Karcher returning to Seattle for Supersonic.
Calling by Seth Tepfer

Seth returns to Supersonic with his infectious energy, joyful calling of hash contras, and complex dances to keep you on your toes all weekend long.
Music by Red Case Band

Red Case Band is an electrifying deep-space groove party machine, featuring Stuart Kenney (interstellar banjo trance, deep bass pulsars), Clara Stickney (star-shimmering harp and fiddle), Alex Cumming (cumulonimbus accordion and piano), Matt Kenney (galactic percussion), and Max Newman (gamma-ray electric guitar). Their richly textured musical signal shakes to the planetary core and broadcasts on all danceable frequencies.
Music by The Figments

The Figments are Anna Patton on clarinet, Ben Schreiber on fiddle, and Owen Morrison on guitar. Besides The Figments, these three are known for other bands, including Elixir, the Dam Beavers, and the Faux Paws. They blend an eclectic mix of styles into inspired performances for dancing or listening. Whether grooving on an Old-time, Irish, or French Canadian fiddle tune, trading daring improvisations on a swing number, or exploring the nuances of a graceful waltz or elegant English country dance tune, this trio of versatile musicians makes dynamic, spontaneous, and electrifying music.
